Richards' OT Goal vs. Bolts is Moment of the Week
(Week of Feb. 6-12)

Rangers alternate captain Brad Richards' goal at 2:37 of overtime to beat Tampa Bay on Feb. 9 at The Garden was named the Moment of the Week for Week 19 of the 2011-12 regular season. It was Richards' team-high fourth Moment of the Week honor for the 2011-12 season, but it came in a very close vote. Richards captured 40.1 percent of the online voting by Rangers fans to edge Rangers captain Ryan Callahan's hat-trick goal on Feb. 11 at Philadelphia. Callahan finished second with 35.8 percent of the vote, while Brandon Prust's shorthanded tally against the Washington Capitals on Feb. 12 at The Garden placed third with 24.1 percent.

The Moment:
Brad Richards scores at 2:37 of overtime to
complete comeback win over his former team

Description: Richards rushed in to the left of goalie Mathieu Garon as Artem Anisimov carried the puck up the middle. He passed off, and Richards had to lunge forward to score, winding up on his knees as the puck went in. "It's like other good teams that I've been on. There's never a panic in the locker room," Richards said.

Richards finds his game, which carries on therafter. Callahan owes him dinner for his hat-trick.

I was at the game, and it was crazy!

It was clutch, and clutch is everything in life.

I screamed the loudest on that one.

This Moment of the Week was the hardest choice yet, but based on how far I jumped off the couch -- I have to give it to Richie.

Great accomplishment for Richards. He needed that goal and we're very happy for him!

This win started a nice momentum swing after a tough loss to the Devils.
-- Bryan Vennard from Short Hills, N.J.

As much as I want to pick Cally's hat trick for Moment of the Week, this goal is exactly what the team needed, and Richards needed to get this team fired up for the remainder of the season.
-- Steve Putnam from Mount Kisco, N.Y.

Say what you want, but you can't deny this dude is clutch!
-- Mike B. from Westfield, N.J.

I picked this not so much for the moment, but because of what it seemed to do for Richards' game. Now he looks like the player the Rangers were looking for when they signed him.
-- Joe from Newburgh, N.Y.

I thought we would lose that game, but this team is relentless. It's tough to choose this week's moment, but gotta give it to Richie.

The look on Richards' face when that puck went in was one that a kid who just scored his first NHL goal would have -- just pure excitement. He needed that goal and we as fans couldn't have been happier to see him score it.
-- Melissa from New York

I was there for it, and the crowd was going nuts when it happened.
-- Dan Riordan from Long Island, N.Y.

All three choices this week were incredible, but Richards' goal probably edged the others out just a little for the needed win and to get him out of his funk.
-- Paul from Memphis, Tenn.

Richards is the only Islander I like to see score in New York -- a Prince Edward Islander scoring for the Blueshirts.
-- Derek Johnson from Georgetown, Prince Edward Island

It was a fantastic goal at a perfect time.
-- Tom from Clinton Township, N.J.

His reaction explains it all.
-- Victoria Bruno from Massapequa, N.Y.
