Rangers Fans' Draft Philosophy Survey Results

Prior to the 2008 NHL Entry Draft, Rangers fans were asked a series of questions about how they view the draft and what kind of picks they would be inclined to make it they had the authority to do so. More than 3,500 online surveys were returned. Here are the results:


The Question:
In your opinion, what is the most important method of player acquisition for building a championship NHL team? If you were named general manager of an NHL expansion team, in which of the following three areas would you want to be the league's very best?

What the Fans Said:
Rangers fans do not like the idea of trying to build teams through free agency or trades as much as they appreciate the value of drafting well. A remarkable 80% of the respondents to this question sent a clear message that they are big believers in the draft.
